Dr. Jennifer Walden is elected secretary and first female to serve on the the ASAPS board of directors
New York, April 29, 2018 – New board members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) have been elected at the Aesthetic Meeting 2018 Texas-based board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeon Jennifer Walden, MD, FACS has been appointed to serve as Secretary of the Society’s Executive Committee. She is the first female physician to serve on the Society’s Executive Committee in a leadership role on the Board of Directors. This is in addition to her current role as Commissioner of Communications for ASAPS that involves overseeing all communications-related activities for The Aesthetic Society.
Dr. Jennifer Walden is nationally recognized for her expertise, skill and advice in plastic and cosmetic surgery as well as for being uniquely cognizant of a patient’s background – culture, race, ethnicity and genes. Based out of Austin, she fellowship-trained in cosmetic surgery at the renowned Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in New York city. She is one of only a few female board-certified physicians formally trained in plastic surgery.
Dr. Walden is also founder of the fully accredited Walden Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center that offers services such as breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, facelifts and eyelid lifts, tummy tucks and liposuction, Brazilian buttock lifts, hydrafacials, laser resurfacing, pigment and hair removal, radiofrequency treatments for fat reduction and skin tightening, Botox and dermal fillers, as well as correction and improvement of previously done corrective surgeries. The practice’s services are based on state of the art equipment that offers its patients the ability to visualize their appearance after augmentation surgeries by means of an industry-leading 3D imaging technology. In addition to having been a member of The Aesthetic Society since 2008, Dr. Jennifer Walden is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She has been recognized as one of Texas Super Doctors as well as one of Castle Connely’s Top Doctors in 2016 and 2017. In 2014, he was selected by Harper’s Bazaar magazine as one of the best beauty surgeons in America. Additionally, Dr. Walden was honored to be chosen for membership into the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. This is an invitation-only, all-star academic society described as “the highest medium of recognition in the field of plastic surgery as evidenced by the contribution of its individual members.”
Furthermore, Dr. Jennifer Walden is both a spokesperson as well as a key opinion leader to prominent medical aesthetic companies including Sciton Inc., Cynosure, Lumenis, SmartGraft and Thermi Aesthetics. She often lectures at national conferences on topics such as laser techniques with face lifting, breast implant and fat grafting surgery, vaginal rejuvenation and social media in the aesthetic industry on a regular basis. Dr. Walden also frequently appears in the media, and she is a regular in television network lifestyle segments.
Dr. Walden has several philanthropic engagements. She was named runner-up for Austin’s Woman of the Year by the Austin Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a campaign that has raised funds toward blood cancer research. She is also a member of the Guardian Angel Society that provides support to abused children served by Austin’s Center for Child Protection. Dr. Walden is also contributor Junior League of Austin’s Food in Tummies program that provides weekend nourishment to elementary school children that qualify. She has helped bring awareness to female heart disease by serving on the local Executive Leadership Team of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign in Austin. Dr. Walden also sponsors the Forest Trails Elementary School and the Eanes Education Foundation to help fund teachers.
The ASAPS is viewed as the leading organization in the world that is entirely dedicated to aesthetic plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine of the face and body. It is comprised of over 2,600 Plastic Surgeons worldwide. Its US and Canada-based active members are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (USA) or by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, while international active members are certified by equivalent boards of their respective countries. As its new President, the Society has elected Dr. Grant Stevens, MD, FACS. A board-certified plastic surgeon in Marina del Rey, California, Dr. Stevens has been an ASAPS member for over two decades, whereby he served the organization on a variety of committees.
