1. Diet
Diet is by far the most important thing when it comes to putting on muscle and losing belly fat. Everything else can be right but if your diet isn’t optimized, you won’t see extraordinary results. If you are looking to put on some size, stick to a high protein diet with a lot of calories. Every day, consume a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Also, track everything that you eat every day and track your weight every morning. As the saying goes, “What get’s measured get’s managed. If it can’t be measured, it can’ be managed”. This is especially true when it comes to fitness. Cut out a lot of the sugar and junk food from your diet. The more precise you can get with your diet, the better off you will be.

2. Workout
Your workout is the second most important thing when it comes to getting in shape. If you are looking to build muscle, your core lifts should be compound exercises. These include things like squats, bench press, deadlifts, rows, etc. Why are these the best for muscle growth? Because they work out multiple muscle groups at a time. Not only do they make your workout more efficient but they are also the most constructive. Also, perform these exercises for 4-6 sets in the 8-12 rep range. This is the optimal range for maximum hypertrophy, something that contributes greatly towards muscle growth. If you want to lose weight, make high-intensity cardio a part of your workout. However, you must still lift heavy because that will preserve muscle gains.

3. Sleep
When it comes to sleep, most Americans struggle to get enough of it. As a lifter and fitness enthusiast, you must make sleep a priority. Not only does getting enough of it balance your hormones but it also gives your energy to carry out your workout. Without these two, it will be hard to see any progress. In the end, try to keep your sleeping schedule as consistent as possible throughout the week.
