France remains little aware of the HIV preventive pill, the PrEP.

The AIDS organization in France has reported its launch of a nationwide campaign to notify the French on the benefits of the PrEP pill. It’s an antiviral drug that can protect an individual against HIV. The pills are little known in France. The pill has so far proven effective to nations like the United Kingdom and the United States.

According to the campaign that was launched, a single pill is meant to protect an individual from HIV. The program was launched in major cities across France. It was started on July 4th. The slogan for the campaign was accompanied by white and black pictures of couples that are both straight and gay. The images meant to advocate for the use of the pill to prevent the spread of the virus.

according to France24.com, the pill was designed for the people that don’t have the HIV preventing them from any substantial risk of contracting the infection. The PrEP pill has been available in the US since 2012. On the other hand, the pill has been in the United Kingdom since the year 2017. However, the pill is little known in France.

The full meaning for the PrEP pill is Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. The medication has been on the market for only 18 months. However, only 7,000 individuals have had the opportunity to have used the medication. In the mentioned figure, some users may have used the generic form of the drug which is produced by three major pharmaceutical laboratories, i.e., Teva that is in France, Sandoz in Switzerland and Gilead in the United States.

The pill is meant to protect the population that is at high risk of being exposed to the HIV. The groups that are in the equation are all gays, bisexuals, men who have sex with other men, migrants and all heterosexuals. The migrant groups are those that mainly come from Sub-Saharan Africa. There is a great epidemic in these nations.
The cost of the drug that is only given after a prescription is exclusively covered by the France social security program. The Aids association is campaigning for the medication as an alternative for all the individuals that struggle to use protective condoms.

The association is on their best interest to advocate the use of the PrEP pill because it’s a guarantee that after an individual uses it, they won’t get infected. Additionally, it assures the consumers that they will be in very great care about their sexual partners.
