The containment of the Mendocino complex fire has so far been progressive as the firefighters have been working day and night to see that the stubborn conditions that the fire was causing were overturned. The worst conditions were mainly experienced on the northern flanks where there were the most significant fires that have ever been experienced in the history of the state. However, the firefighters were gearing for the situation. The wind that was blowing and the heat that was experienced during the day made the activity challenging. The dry conditions experienced on Saturday afternoon also contributed to the spread of the fire. A red flag was raised as a warning throughout Saturday night.
The firefighter crew found a little success in suppressing the flames along its western edge. According to the firefighters, the crew managed to press the fire back to Mendocino National Forest. As of the report that was issued on Saturday morning, the Mendocino fire which initially consisted of two fires mainly manifested on the mountainous terrain near Lake Clear. The fires had already consumed 325,226 acres. The good news was that the fire crew had contained the fire up to 67%. The Ranch fire which was the most massive progressed to spread over the dry grass and thickets. The fire remained active during the night. The firefighters remained vigilant in ensuring that the flames were contained. The California fires said that they controlled the fire line within the Mendocino National Forest on its east and west perimeters.
Overall, the most massive fire had burned over 276,306 acres. The fire crew noted that they had already contained 58 percent of the fire. The smaller River fire had consumed a total of 48,920 acres, and according to the California fire they had contained 92 % of the fire. Due to the progress that was being witnessed regarding the flames that were in the state, Sutter Lakeside hospital and other emergency rooms in the hospital have already re-opened. This report was delivered by the Lake County Sherriff’s office. Other sections of the hospital like the physician’s wing will reopen on Monday. All the residents of the area were asked to visit the hospital for all kind of treatment as the clinic was up and running. On Friday night, the sheriff’s department lifted all evacuations in the area. All the roads that were closed like the Elk mountain road were reopened to the motorists.
